MEET THE TALENT

LINDSEY TUCKER GUTIERREZ
Painter- Oils
My work begins with visual awareness of the physical world but is rarely made directly from life. Each painting is a compilation of sketches, photos, sentiments, and memories that seeks emotional truth over visual representation. Through sensitivity to emotion, exaggeration of gesture, and manipulation of color and space, my paintings become less about the subject itself and more about the act of searching -

SCOTTY PEEK
Painter- Acrylics
I mostly paint and draw landscapes, often abstracted to various degrees. I enjoy the visual evidence of investigation through mark- making, and never seek to hide the process. I usually begin each painting from life or photo reference, but then abandon the reference to paint freely, often destroying some of the realistic illusion that may be developing

BRIAN HIBBARD
Painter/ Mixed Media Artist
My paintings and sculptures bridge ancient and modern sensibilities. The subjects are often classical figures and portraits, but my use of materials is pure expressionism. I am most comfortable working in large scale. It is a great format for viewers to “step into” and experience.

EILEEN BLYTH
Painter/ Mixed Media Artist
“I am working to establish a unique visual language. A painting begins with a bright ground and bold strokes. I continue, painting out and scraping off, making marks. I am building up surfaces, ghosting out lines, finding my words. It is humbling to realize the uncertainty of spontaneity.”

JEFF RUTCHIK
Painter/ Mixed Media Artist
My inspiration comes from the people along my life’s journey, past and present. Their energy is represented through the motions of the brush strokes and their spirits through the imagery of the eye, which guides me to see the landscapes of the world with an enriched perspective.

LOUANNE LaROCHE
Painter/ Mixed Media Artist
"My artwork reflects a significant sense of my community and my response to these connections as they are being lost, displaced or diminished. There is a communion of spirit between an intimate glance towards a gesture, event or place and the process of documenting this relationship on paper or canvas.

MARY SEGARS

I was naturally drawn to sketching, even as a young girl. While growing up in Blacksburg, Va, I often toodled around with pencil and sketchpad. At the College of William & Mary, I chose to major in biology, as I have an intense interest in nature and the mechanics of life.

PETER CRAM

Cram’s love affair with photography began at a young age, nurtured by his father’s own interest in the art form. “I started with an Instamatic, throwing bird food out for cardinals,” he said. “My dad always had a camera and he was pretty generous about getting me film and having my photos printed.”

SUSANNE CARMACK
Mixed Media Artist
“Texture and mark making are central components of my work. The painterly gesture is a persistent element, along with the anemic writing that represents the universal urge to mark one’s territory. The empty space is as important to me as the space enlivened with marks. In a test of ideas and form.

WENDY McARTHUR
Painter- Oils
"With an unconventional lifestyle must also come unconventional work environments. My studios since living aboard have included an old bait shack in Beaufort, SC, a houseboat in Stewart, Florida, a studio in the San Juan Islands over looking Friday Harbor, an abandoned canvas shop in Sidney, BC among others.

LAURIE McINTOSH
Painter/ Printmaker/ Mixed Media Artist
"I have discovered through the years that I don’t work like many artist do. I don’t have an exact style or medium that defines me. I work in large bodies of work that usually take years to explore. These large bodies are many times divided into series within the body.

MARC HANSON
Plein Air Painter- Oils, Acrylics, Gouache
“I have pursued a career as a painter for many years now. Along the way my methods, materials and focus have evolved. A naturalist at heart, the landscape is the perfect vehicle for expressing the joy I have for the world that surrounds me. My real interest and challenge as a painter is how to best manipulate the core principles of painting into effective visual statements.

TIMOTHY YEAW
Painter- Oils
"I've been greatly influenced by the tonalist masters around the early 1900s. Whistler, Turner, Twachtman, Inness and others– who, in my opinion, painted emotionally stunning landscapes with a modern intent –art for its own sake and beauty in the paint itself rather than the subject."
