General Gallery Questions:
Q: What kinds of fine art do you offer at Camellia Art?
A: We represent original fine art, including paintings, photography, sculpture, mixed media, and works by regional & national artists. Our collection showcases diverse styles suitable for coastal homes, design projects, and personal collections.
Q: Are art purchases returnable?
A: Fine art purchases are final. Because we pay artists immediately upon sale, we do not accept returns on artwork.
Q: How can I contact the gallery with a question not listed here?
A: Use our contact form or call either our Hilton Head or Bluffton location. We’re happy to answer additional questions and help you plan your visit
Q: How do I hang fine art once it’s framed?
A: We can advise on professional hardware and placement based on your wall type and artwork weight. Ask us for professional installation recommendations.
Custom Framing Questions:
Q: Do I need an appointment for custom framing?
A: No appointment is required at our Hilton Head / Bluffton locations — simply stop by during framing hours. Appointments are available upon request at select locations for personalized design discussions.
Q: Can you give framing price estimates over the phone?
A: We can provide ballpark estimates, but accurate custom framing pricing requires measuring your artwork and selecting all materials in person.
Q: How long does custom framing take?
A: Most framing jobs are completed around ~2 weeks, depending on materials availability. Occasionally delays occur if supplies are backordered or during our season surges.
Q: What types of items can you frame?
A: We can frame original artwork, prints, custom mirrors, photographs, memorabilia, and unique items that fit within our framing options.
Q: Do you offer conservation or archival framing?
A: Yes, we use archival materials and conservation framing techniques to help protect artwork long-term.
Q: Do you repair broken frames?
A: We may be able to repair wooden frames or remount artwork; bring items in so we can assess and recommend options.
Q: Why should I choose custom framing vs. ready-made frames?
A: Custom framing provides conservation-quality materials, precise fit, UV protection, and a design selected to enhance your artwork and space. Ready- made frames do not help protect your art against acid or sunlight and are often made of flimsy composite materials or plastic.
Q: How do I prepare my artwork for framing?
A: Not much needs to be done beforehand! Please make sure the piece you want framed is in the condition you want it to be preserved in- We can iron and block textiles and flatten wrinkled paper etc but please have your items cleaned and repaired/ edited as best you can. Other than that, bring the actual piece to the gallery so we can measure and suggest the best material, matting, and glass options.
Q: What is conservation framing and why is it important?
A: Conservation framing uses acid-free mats, archival mountings, and UV protective glass to preserve art long-term and minimize fading.
