A self-taught artist working in oils, collage, and acrylics, Jan Swanson has taken drawing and painting classes at the University of South Carolina, Columbia College, Anderson Ranch, Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts and Penland School of Arts & Crafts.

Jan grew up in Asheville, NC, graduating from Asheville High and Clemson University. She started her career in Clemson’s Public Relations Department which led her to Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem and then the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga. Later, she would move to Columbia, SC, where she currently lives.

Jan has been painting for more than 20 years and has received numerous awards for her work. She paints and teaches full-time with her work being represented by Camellia Art in Hilton Head and Bluffton, SC. She is a Certified Golden Artist Educator, after completing training in the Fall of 2019.
